Hi! for those of you who don't know me I'm Liz and, this summer, I'm planning to do the scariest yet exciting thing in my life to date...


In August I'm travelling to Durban, South Africa through charities Tearfund and SoulAction, in order to help the thousands of street children and those living in extreme poverty (ie. under $1 a day). Many of you will know, this will be an even bigger challenge for me as I'm a bit of a homebird and afraid of flying! Bring on the 20 hours of travelling...

I'll be working in a school (with v limited equipment!) teaching English and Sport, doing assemblies and also general maintenance work like painting classrooms and fixing chairs and tables. I'll also be spending time with Durban's large population of street children, talking to them, giving them food and maybe even the odd game of football!

This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and will benefit so many people in so many different ways - including myself. Please continue to visit this site for regular updates as the date gets nearer, and dig deep for that sponsorship money otherwise I may not be going after all...
